Ingredients:

For the crust (bottom layer):

1 box yellow cake mix (or 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup butter if homemade)

1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter

1 large egg

For the topping (top layer):

1 package (8 oz / ~225g) cream cheese, softened

2 large eggs

1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter

3 to 4 cups powdered sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).

Make the crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Mix well until a dough forms. Press it evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.

Make the topping: In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Beat until creamy.

Pour the topping over the crust and spread it evenly.

Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is golden brown but still slightly gooey in the center.

Let it cool completely before cutting into squares.
