“Gâteau magique à la vanille”

🧾 Ingredients

4 eggs (separated)

150 g sugar (about 3/4 cup)

1 tbsp water

125 g butter (melted) – about 1/2 cup

115 g flour (about 1 cup)

500 ml warm milk (2 cups)

1 tbsp vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

🍰 Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 150°C (300°F). Grease a baking dish and line it with parchment paper (optional).

2. Separate egg whites and yolks. Beat the egg yolks with sugar and water until pale and creamy.

3. Add the melted butter and mix well. Then, add the flour and mix until smooth.

4. Add the vanilla extract and warm milk gradually while whisking to avoid lumps. The batter will be very liquid — this is normal.

5. In a clean bowl, whisk egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.

6. Gently fold the egg whites into the liquid batter. Do not overmix — it’s fine if some lumps of egg whites remain floating.

7. Pour the mixture into the baking dish and bake for about 50–60 minutes until the top is golden and slightly firm.

8. Let it cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. The magic layers will appear after cooling.
