Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
150 g (about 2/3 cup) butter, softened
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 egg
1 to 2 tablespoons milk (if needed for kneading)
1 cup shredded mozzarella or any melting cheese
1 egg yolk (for brushing)
Black seeds or sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Add the butter and rub it into the flour mixture until it becomes crumbly. Add the yogurt and egg, then knead to form a soft dough. Add a little milk if the dough is too dry.
Shape the Dough:
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1 cm thick. Cut it into rectangles or squares using a knife or pizza cutter.
Assemble and Garnish:
Place the pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with egg yolk. Sprinkle cheese generously on each piece and top with black seeds or sesame.
Bake:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the cheese bites for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Serve:
Let them cool slightly and serve warm or at room temperature. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or tea time!
