Ingredients:
500g ground beef or lamb
1 onion (finely chopped)
2–3 garlic cloves (minced)
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Salt and pepper (to taste)
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon cumin (optional)
2–3 large potatoes (peeled and cut into thick slices)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup tomato sauce (or homemade tomato puree)
1 to 1½ cups grated mozzarella cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
—
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Meatballs:
In a large bowl, mix the ground meat with chopped onion, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, paprika, and cumin.
Form into medium-sized meatballs.
2. Arrange in a Baking Dish:
Grease a round or rectangular baking dish with olive oil.
Stand the meatballs vertically and place a slice of potato between each meatball, forming a circular pattern or rows.
3. Add Tomato Sauce:
Pour the tomato sauce evenly over the meat and potatoes.
4. Bake (First Time):
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 40–45 minutes, or until the potatoes and meat are cooked through.
5. Add Cheese & Final Bake:
Remove the foil and sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
Return to the oven and bake uncovered for another 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
