Ingredients:
3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour or bread flour
1 cup (240ml) warm milk (not hot)
¼ cup (50g) sugar
2 ¼ tsp (7g) active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 tsp salt
1 large egg
¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened (room temperature)

Instructions:
1. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix warm milk and sugar.
Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
2. Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, add flour and salt.
Add the egg and the yeast mixture.
Mix until a rough dough forms.
3. Add Butter:
Add softened butter gradually while kneading.
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes by hand or 6–8 minutes with a mixer, until smooth and elastic.
4. First Rise (Proofing):
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl.
Cover with a towel or plastic wrap.
Let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size (as shown in the image).
5. Shape the Dough:
Punch down the risen dough.
Shape it into a loaf or rolls.
Place in a greased baking dish or loaf pan.
6. Second Rise:
Cover and let it rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
7. Bake:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown on top.
Optional: Brush the top with butter after baking for a soft, shiny finish.

Use bread flour for a chewier texture.
For sweeter bread, increase sugar to 1/3 cup.
