Ingredients:
For the mashed potatoes:
4–5 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk (more if needed)
Salt and pepper to taste
For the beef and gravy:
1 lb (450g) ground beef
1 tablespoon oil or butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1/2 onion, finely chopped (optional)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. Make the Mashed Potatoes:
Boil the potato chunks in salted water until fork-tender (about 15–20 minutes).
Drain, then mash the potatoes with butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
2. Prepare the Ground Beef:
In a skillet, heat oil or butter over medium heat.
Add the ground beef (and onions if using), cook until browned and fully cooked.
Sprinkle the flour over the beef and stir well for 1–2 minutes.
3. Make the Gravy:
Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring.
Add garlic powder, black pepper, and salt to taste.
Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the gravy thickens.
4. Serve:
Spoon the mashed potatoes onto a plate or bowl.
Top with the beef and gravy mixture.
